Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk admits anxiety over Victor Osimhen’s international duty

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has confessed he feels uneasy whenever star striker Victor Osimhen leaves for international duty with Nigeria, following the forward’s injury scare during the Super Eagles’ 1-0 win over Rwanda in Saturday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Osimhen, who led the line for Nigeria in Uyo, suffered an ankle injury and is now a major doubt for Galatasaray’s next league fixture when action resumes in Türkiye this weekend.
Buruk expressed his concerns while speaking to Now Spor, as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.
“If there is a problem with Osimhen, we want to send a plane immediately to bring him back to Türkiye. We hope it’s nothing serious.” He said.
The Turkish coach recalled how he first received the unsettling news while at dinner.
“A waiter approached me with his phone, showing me the update about Osimhen. I always worry whenever he goes on international duty, and tonight we experienced that fear again. We contacted him, and the feedback we got is that he has pain in his foot.” He continued.
The 25-year-old Nigerian forward only joined Galatasaray this summer but has already become central to their attack, making his availability crucial for the club’s title ambitions.
His fitness will now be closely monitored in the coming days as Galatasaray prepare for their next Süper Lig outing.
