Goal Hero Ogu Delighted with Hapoel Beer-Sheva Performance After Israeli Play-Offs Draw

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu expressed his satisfaction after scoring for Hapoel Beer-Sheva, despite the team being held to a 2-2 draw by Hapoel Haifa in Sunday’s Israeli Championship play-offs clash, as reported by Completesportsnigeria.com. This goal marked Ogu’s first in six months for the club.

The 29-year-old Nigerian international last found the back of the net for Hapoel Beer-Sheva during their 3-1 victory over Hapoel Ra’annana on October 14th, 2017. Ogu’s crucial strike came in the 79th minute of the game, giving Hapoel Beer-Sheva a temporary lead of 2-1. However, an own goal from Ben Basat in the 90th minute denied them the full three points.

“Not the best game from us tonight, but I am proud of the never-give-up attitude shown by my team and the support from the fans. I am happy to have contributed with a goal. Thank you to the fans for their unwavering support. We have six more important games ahead,” Ogu shared via his official Twitter account.

Despite the draw, Hapoel Beer-Sheva currently leads the Israeli Championship play-off round with seven points, ahead of their closest rivals Beiter Jerusalem, who are set to face Maccabi Tel Aviv on Monday. Hapoel Beer-Sheva’s next game will be an away fixture against Maccabi Netanya, scheduled for Sunday.

The draw against Hapoel Haifa may not have been the desired result for Hapoel Beer-Sheva, but Ogu’s goal and the team’s overall performance continue to showcase their determination to maintain their position at the top of the Israeli Championship play-off round. With only six games remaining, each match will be crucial in their pursuit of securing the championship title.

Ogu’s goal-scoring prowess will undoubtedly boost Hapoel Beer-Sheva’s confidence as they prepare for the upcoming fixture against Maccabi Netanya. The team will be eager to secure a victory and extend their lead in the championship race.

As the Nigerian midfielder continues to make his mark on the Israeli football scene, his contributions both on and off the pitch are greatly appreciated by fans and teammates alike. With his goal, Ogu has once again proven his value to Hapoel Beer-Sheva and his commitment to the club’s success.
