Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi shows off Nigeria as Borussia Dortmund won their first Der Klassiker in Munich in ten years, shocking Bayern Munich 2-0.
The 21-year-old had the Nigeria flag stitched on his socks during the Der Klassiker win over Bayern.
Adeyemi was born in Germany to a Romanian mother and Abbey, a Nigerian father who hailed from Ibadan, Oyo.
Via his father, he was qualified to play for the Super Eagles prior to deciding to represent Germany, his country of birth in 2021 and scored on his debut.
He has represented Germany at various youth levels, including the U-16, U-17, and U-21 teams, and his commitment to the German national team remains steadfast.
However, FIFA’s eligibility criteria, established in September 2020, present an opportunity for players to switch allegiance if they meet specific conditions.
Despite his appearances for the German side, which include three World Cup qualifiers and a UEFA Nations League match, his participation in non-competitive fixtures leaves room for a potential change in allegiance.
