Louis Saha urges Manchester United to sign Osimhen, calls him “transformational”

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has called on his former club to sign Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, describing the Galatasaray star as a “transformational” player who could help restore the Red Devils to their former glory.

Saha’s comments come amid Manchester United’s worst-ever Premier League campaign. With five games left to play, United sit 14th in the table with 38 points from 33 matches, having lost a record 15 games this season under manager Reuben Amorim.

Speaking to Mega Dice, Saha praised Osimhen’s quality, resilience, and goal-scoring pedigree across multiple top European leagues.

“I really like Victor Osimhen. He’s definitely got the character, he’s got the quality. He’s also got good European pedigree,” Saha said. “He was a success in France, a champion in Italy with Napoli, and now he’s been brilliant in Turkey with Galatasaray.”

Osimhen, 26, joined Galatasaray on loan for the 2024/25 season after a summer transfer to the Premier League fell through due to Napoli’s €75 million asking price.

Despite the move, which Saha described as “one he probably didn’t want,” the Nigerian has excelled in Turkey and is currently one goal away from equaling his career-best tally of 31 goals, achieved during Napoli’s 2022/23 title-winning season.

Manchester United, plagued by attacking inconsistency, are expected to prioritize a proven striker in the summer transfer window. Saha believes Osimhen’s track record and mentality make him the ideal candidate.

“He’s scored goals at every level. He’s got Champions League experience and the type of personality and charisma that this United squad could really benefit from,” Saha said.

“If you think about the pressure he was under at Napoli, firing them to their first title in 33 years, then he’s the perfect man to lead the line for Manchester United.”

“I think he would have a huge impact at United. I would love to see the club hierarchy move for him—he is exactly what we need.”

Osimhen remains one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards, with several top clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the summer window.
