Freshly called-up Nigerian striker, Nathan Tella scored his first goal in Bayer Leverkusen colours, helping the Die Werkself to a 4-0 humbling of Union Berlin on Sunday.

Tella, who just got his first senior team call-up to Super Eagles started the game on the bench with his fellow Nigerian, Victor Boniface earned a starting berth.

The hosts made their intentions to keep hold of top of the table and stretch the unbeaten run known from the get go as they took a first half lead through Alejandro Grimaldo.

Ivorian defender, Odilon Kossounou doubled the lead for Leverkusen under 12 minutes into restart.

Jonathan Tah make three with a superb finish in the 73rd minute, benefiting from a poor defending.

There were still time for Tella who was on for just two minutes to put the icing on Leverkusen’s victory with the fourth goal, his first league goal since joining in the summer.

The victory further cemented the position of Xavi Alonso’s men at the summit and stretch their unbeaten run to 11 matches.

For Tella, there couldn’t have been a better time to open his goal account for Leverkusen as he’s hoping to replicate that with Nigeria when he joins with his new national team family.
