NWFL Premiership MD 11 wrap: Edo Queens beat Remo Stars in the top-of-the-table clash as Robo Queens end Rivers’s unbeaten record

The unbeaten teams as far as the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season is concerned are now down to two teams.

Rivers Angels 10 match without defeat, the Port Harcourt-based side’s indomitable run ended during Matchday 11 as FC Robo Queens secured a 3-0 win over Tosan Blackson’s side in Lagos.

Kemi Adegbuyi, Mariam Yahaya, and Opeyemi Ajakaye scored to help the Lagos Landladies prevail over the seven-time league winners.

In Ikenne, Edo Queens continued their unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory against Remo Stars in Group A top-of-the-table clash.

An early goal from Kafayat Mafishere in the eighth minute separated both sides.

The loss ended Remo Stars’ perfect home record in the league, condemning the Ikenne-based side to their second loss of the campaign.

In Lafia, Nasarawa Amazons were the biggest winners of the matchday with a 5-0 thrashing of Confluence Queens.

A hat trick by Janet Akekeromowei lifted the Solid Babes to a five-star performance.

Aminat Bello and Josephine Matthias scored the other goals for the Solid Miners.

In Uyo, Ibom Angels had to come from behind to secure a 2-1 success against Naija Ratels.

Sofiat Bankole opened scoring for the Abuja-based visitors, but second-half goals from Chioma Ashiegbu and Abigail Awak sealed victory for the Orange Ladies.

Olajumoke Abina’s 27th-minute goal propelled Abia Angels to victory over Heartland Queens in Aba.

Two goals in the space of one minute from Rashidat Salau and Augusta Chukwuma ensured that Dannaz Ladies and Ekiti Queens played out a 1-1 draw in Lagos.

Elsewhere, Bayelsa Queens maintained their unbeaten record with a 2-0 win against Benue Queens thanks to goals from Harmony John and Alaba Obabiyi.

In Asaba, Priscilla Omeje scored the winner as Delta Queens pipped Adamawa Queens 1-0 in Asaba.

Matchday 12 of the league is scheduled for next Wednesday, with three games till the end of the regular season, with teams jostling for glory and survival.
