NWFL Premiership: Sabo Okala applauds Confluence Queens’ Super Six qualification

After sealing a place in the Super Six of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership,Confluence Queens coach, Sabo Okala has heaped praises on his players.

Confluence Queens picked one of the six tickets with a game to spare after a 2-0 win over Abia Angels at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, on Wednesday.

First-half goals from Mary Mamudu and Chinyere Emenike sealed victory and a place in the season-ending Super Six and the former Honey Badgers coach said he is super proud of his players for putting in a great fight so far.

“Confluence Queens is one of the biggest teams in the NWFL, and I am excited to contribute to the success of the team,” Okala told Confluence Queens Media.

“Come on, come on, we are already in the Super Six and no one can stop us. I want to thank my chairman and team manager for this rare opportunity to lead the team to this success.” He said.

Chairman of the Lokoja base side Honorable Abdulmalik Isah (dolly) who is also delighted praised and congratulated the team and urged them to always strive to do the State proud through their chosen sports career.

“Kudos to the girls for their wonderful performances, and I trust them to spring up more.

“I’m highly proud of the team.”

He also assured the team of the state government’s continual support towards the team.

“I want to assure you all that the government is proud of you and will continue to give every needed support to the club.”

Confluence Queens have accumulated 24 points from 13 matches played and will welcome Nasarawa Amazons in a derby match next week Wednesday.

They have qualified for the Super Six alongside Nasarawa Amazons, Heartland Queens, and Rivers Angels.

The last two Super Six spots will be contested between Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, and FC Robo Queens next Wednesday.
