Onazi Overcomes Injury Setback and Calls for Support for NFF

Nigeria’s Super Eagles vice captain, Ogenyi Onazi, expressed his joy at returning to action for Trabzonspor after a two-week absence due to a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old midfielder’s comeback proved to be a turning point for Trabzonspor, as they secured a 2-1 victory over Antalyaspor in the Turkish Super League on Saturday.

Trabzonspor had faced disappointment in their previous two matches, failing to secure a win. However, goals from Burak Yilmaz and Yusuf Yacidi ensured that Emre Gural’s strike for Antalyaspor went in vain.

Following the win, Onazi took to Twitter to express his delight, stating, “Very important victory away from home, feels really good to be back doing what I know how to do best.. thank you Lord.”

Trabzonspor’s triumph pushes them up to fifth place in the Turkish Super League table, with 49 points from 31 games. Onazi’s return to the squad has undoubtedly boosted the team’s performance and provided them with a much-needed victory.

In addition to discussing his comeback, the former Lazio midfielder also addressed the ongoing court case involving Chris Giwa and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). Onazi called for support for the current NFF board, led by Amaju Pinnick, emphasizing the negative impact that past court distractions have had on Nigerian football.

“No…not again. The worst periods of our football in recent past were those times when we had these ‘court’ distractions. Let’s not go back to those days. We need to support the NFF, the World Cup is just some days away,” Onazi stated.

With 18 league appearances for Trabzonspor this season, Onazi has proven to be a key player for the team. His return from injury has undoubtedly provided a significant boost ahead of the upcoming World Cup. As the tournament draws near, Nigerian football fans will be hoping for a successful campaign, free from distractions and with the full support of the NFF.
