Onome Ebi’s Resilience Shines as Super Falcons Star Joins Henan Huishang After 15-Month Hiatus
In a remarkable comeback after a 15-month hiatus, Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi has sealed a move to Chinese second division side Henan Huishang, marking a significant chapter in her illustrious career. Ebi, who previously featured for FC Minsk in the Belarusian Premier League, expressed her joy and gratitude following the announcement.
The 34-year-old football stalwart, who endured a hand fracture that sidelined her for over a year, conveyed her elation in a statement released by her management team, Temple Management Company. Ebi thanked the Almighty for the opportunity to return to the pitch and conveyed her excitement, saying, “I am super excited is to put what I am feeling mildly.”
Acknowledging the support system that aided her recovery, Ebi expressed gratitude to everyone involved in her journey. “I want to single out my management team for being a strong support system and making sure this transition was very smooth,” she stated in the media release.
Ebi, who played a pivotal role in the Super Falcons’ triumph at the African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon, is now eager to contribute to both her club and national team. “I can’t wait to play football again for my club and country. I have survived one of the biggest challenges of my career and I am in a happy place to once again do what I love best,” she remarked.
