Portuguese side announces capture of Nigeria star Chukwudi Igbokwe

Portuguese side, Rio Ave have announced the capture of Nigeria star, Chukwudi Igbokwe.

The free agent last played in the Belgian league for KAA Gent B side before moving to Portugal as a free agent.

The club is delighted to have the young forward in their ranks ahead of next season.

The Vilacondenses revealed that Igbokwe has committed his future to the club till the summer of 2026, while he has gone to have his first training session under coach Luís Freire.

“Rio Ave Futebol Clube – Futebol, SAD reached an agreement with athlete Chukwudi Igbokwe to sign a contract valid until June 2026,” Rio Ave wrote on their website.

“The 22-year-old forward has Nigerian nationality and trained this Wednesday under coach Luís Freire, at the Rio Ave FC Stadium.

“Last season, Chukwudi played for KAA Gent in Belgium and is currently free of any contract.

“While serving his country, he played for the Nigeria U23 team.”

Igbokwe scored four goals in 22 games for Gent last season.
