Nigeria’s Halimatu Ayinde and BK Häcken Clinch Maiden UEFA Women’s Europa Cup

Nigeria’s Halimatu Ayinde helped her Swedish club, BK Häcken, lift the inaugural UEFA Women’s Europa Cup after a thrilling 3-2 win over fellow Swedish side Hammarby on Saturday.

Felicia Schroeder starred for Häcken, scoring a hat trick, including two goals in the first half, to propel her team to victory.

Hammarby fought back with goals from Svea Rehberg and Elin Sorum, but their efforts fell short, as Häcken secured a 4-2 aggregate triumph.

Ayinde, who previously won the Swedish league title with FC Rosengård, joined Häcken ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Her addition to the squad proved decisive, playing a key role in the team’s European success.
