Premier League Goal of the month: April

The Premier League games throughout April threw up plenty of goals, twists and shocks as the races at both ends of the table tightened up, with Everton dropping into the relegation zone and Manchester United dropping out of the Champions League race.
But, of the 118 goals scored this month, which ones deserve to be nominated for Goal of the Month for April.
Here are the 10 contenders.
1. Granit Xhaka (Arsenal) vs Manchester United
With the game finely poised at 2-1 between two contenders for the final Champions League spot, Arsenal’s midfield man stepped up. The ball fell to him 25 yards out, and the Swiss thundered a left-footed strike past David De Gea for Arsenal’s third, and ensure that all three points remained in north London.

2. Enock Mwepu (Brighton) vs Arsenal
Another beautiful goal at the Emirates stadium that this time Arsenal were on the receiving end of, Enock Mwepu doubled his side’s lead on the day with a glorious half-volley from the edge of the penalty area, flying through a host of bodies and past Aaron Ramsdale and helping consign the Gunners to defeat.

3. James Ward Prowse (Southampton) vs Leeds United
The first of several free-kicks to be part of this shortlist, and who better to welcome them in than arguably the best free-kick taker in Premier League history, James Ward-Prowse.
With his side a goal down, Ward-Prowse fired over the wall from 25 yards, and into the top corner past a stranded Ilan Meslier to rescue a point at Elland Road.
4. Rodrigo (Manchester City) vs Watford
In amongst the four goals scored by Gabriel Jesus against Watford was this rocket from Rodri. With teammate De Bruyne on the floor after a collision, Rodri took the initiative himself and smashed the ball home from the edge of the area on the half volley to restore a 2 goal cushion for his side.
5. Mo Salah (Liverpool) vs Manchester United
Mo Salah capped a brilliant team move against Manchester United, which centred on a brilliant round the corner pass from Sadio Mane. The second goal in the game, in truth Liverpool could have run out far more than 4-0 winners on the night.

6. Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) vs Brentford
Despite coming in a 4-1 defeat, Antonio Rudiger’s goal to open the scoring against Brentford was something special. All of 40 yards out, the German centre-back stepped forward and put one firmly in the top corner to hand his side the lead in the game.
7. Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) vs Norwich
Another month, another stunner from Ronaldo, and this time from a set-piece. Handed a free-kick 25 yards out with two goals already to his name and his side being held 2-2 by bottom of the league Norwich, CR7 stepped up to smash the ball past Tim Krul, and net his third and his side all three points.

8. Joelinton (Newcastle United) vs Norwich
If, like in local youth team football, there was a most improved player award for the Premier League, it would surely go to this man. His move into midfield has resuscitated a dead Newcastle career, and he capped off some wonderful team play with a sharp finish against Norwich for his first of two in the game.
9. Connor Roberts (Burnley) vs Southampton
A massive goal and a brilliant one, Burnley needed some magical football to get themselves out of the relegation zone, and Connor Roberts provided it, curling home the opener with his weaker foot from outside the box.
10. Aaron Cresswell (West Ham) vs Everton
Another free-kick on this list, this time from full-back Aaron Cresswell, who curled home a delightful effort just minutes into their 2-1 win over Everton.
Which one warrants being crowned goal of the month?
