Senate backs Super Eagles’ World Cup bid, urges “no excuses” against Rwanda and Zimbabwe

The Nigerian Senate has pledged full support for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, urging the team to secure maximum points in their upcoming matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, stressed the critical importance of winning these key matches, declaring that “there should be no excuses.”

Ningi acknowledged the hurdles the team may face but expressed unwavering confidence in their ability to rise above them.

The senator’s statement comes as the Super Eagles are faced with a challenging task to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Despite a shaky start to their qualifying campaign, the team remains determined to turn things around.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau also shared his belief in the team’s potential to qualify for the World Cup and secure victory in the 2025 AFCON.

With the Senate’s backing and support from key figures in Nigerian football, the Super Eagles are eager to draw inspiration from their leaders and deliver winning performances in their upcoming crucial matches.
