Stanley Nwabali: Nigeria goalkeeper rejoins Chippa United after spell without a club

Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rejoined Chippa United, returning to the South African side after several months without a club.
The 30-year-old, born in Lagos, has signed back on with the Betway Premiership outfit, reuniting with the team he previously represented between 2022 and early 2026. Nwabali had been unattached since leaving Chippa United on 1 February 2026 and now resumes his career in Port Elizabeth following his free-agent spell.
Nwabali, a right-footed goalkeeper, first arrived at Chippa United from Nigerian side Katsina United in October 2022, making the move after a series of domestic switches in his home country. His return comes with his current market value listed at €800,000, underlining his standing as an experienced option between the posts.
Before his first stint in South Africa, Nwabali built his reputation in the Nigerian top flight with spells at Go Round FC, Enyimba Aba, Wikki Tourists, Lobi Stars and Katsina United. His most notable success came with Enyimba Aba, where he was part of the squad that won the Nigerian championship in the 2018-19 season.
Now back at Chippa United from life as a free agent, Nwabali’s move has been finalised with immediate effect as he resumes his role in the Betway Premiership.
