David Akintunde: Nigerian striker joins Kavala on free transfer from Eordaikos

Nigerian centre-forward David Akintunde has joined Greek side Kavala on a free transfer from Eordaikos.
The 22-year-old, who stands at 1.85m and plays primarily through the middle, has signed a deal with Kavala running until 30 June 2027 after leaving fellow Greek club Eordaikos at the end of last season.
Akintunde arrives having gained senior experience in top-flight football, with 21 Premier League appearances and three goals on his record, averaging a goal every 211 minutes. A right-footed attacker, he adds depth and a different physical profile to Kavala’s forward options ahead of the new campaign.
Born on 25 April 2004, Akintunde moved to Eordaikos in September 2025 from Accra Lions, also on a free transfer, and used his time there to establish himself in European football. His performances were sufficient to earn a subsequent move within Greece, with Kavala opting to secure him without a fee.
Kavala’s decision to hand Akintunde a contract through to 2027 underlines their commitment to integrating him into their long-term attacking plans following his switch from Eordaikos on a free transfer.
