Super Falcons get big friendly test against France

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The French women’s national team announced a friendly match against Nigeria later this month in the European nation.

The clash between the nine-time African champions and the UEFA Women’s Nations League runners-up will take place on November 30, 2024.

Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers will stage the encounter as both teams prepare for their future encounters.

While the Super Falcons is preparing for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco next year, France is beefing up preparation for the UEFA Women’s Euros taking place in Switzerland in 2025.

The draws for the next UEFA Women’s Nations League are also around the corner for Le Bleues.

Historically, Nigeria and France have met three times at senior women’s national team level including twice at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

France edged Nigeria 1-0 in the group stage of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup when both sides first met.

In 2018, the European side recorded their biggest win over the Super Falcons with an 8-0 victory in an international friendly match.

In the last meeting at the 2018 FIFA Women’s World Cup group stage, Wendie Renard’s penalty separated both sides in France.
