Terem Moffi to resume training before Africa Cup of Nations – Report

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward, Terem Moffi is expected to return to training ahead of next year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Moffi was earlier reported to be a huge doubt for the tournament due to a hamstring injury that he sustained on Saturday.

However, the striker will resume full training this week contrary to speculations that he has suffered a hamstring injury that could keep him out of the AFCON.

“Nursing a minor injury and missing the Le Havre game was only a precaution,” a report by ScoreNigeria said.

The former L’Orient player was on course to feature in Nice’s 3-1 loss to Le Havre in a Ligue 1 tie at the Stade Oceane but his club confirmed his hamstring injury on X handle before the game.

Nice head coach, Francesco Farioli appeared before the media to discuss the club’s setback against Le Havre on Saturday.

He said during the last training they had two problems with the Super Eagles attacker.

“For Moffi, it was a small muscle problem. We had put him in the group because we had hope but the problem was confirmed so he stayed in Nice to train and recover.”

Moffi last played for the French side against Stade de Reims, a game before last weekend’s encounter.

He has scored four goals with two assists in the French Ligue 1 this season for the team.
