Nigeria forward Gift Orban justified his starting place with a goal for Gent to thrash Zorya 4-1 and qualify for the Round-of 16 of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL).
The 21-year-old made his third start in three consecutive games and scored the third of the match, after he latched on to a pass from Noah Fadiga before he finished with a right-footed shot from close range.
Malick Fofana’s first-half goal gave the hosts a slim lead at the break before Arseniy Batahov’s 49th-minute own goal doubled the lead, Omri Gendeiman made it 4-0 in the final 15 minutes to wrap up the win.
However, Denis Nagnoymyi pulled one goal back for Zorya with eight minutes to go.
The Super Eagles hopeful has now scored five goals in the Conference League and he has now scored in his last three matches of the competition.
After Matchday 5 of the competition, Orban is the joint topscorer alongside Benjamin Nygren of Nordsjælland with five goals apiece.
