By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Nigeria U-20 national team, also known as the Flying Eagles, made a strong start to their preparations for the upcoming West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Championship with a 4-1 victory over Seamoriow FC at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Under the guidance of head coach Zubairu Aliyu, the team showcased their potential in a competitive friendly match.

Kparobo Ariheri was the standout player, scoring twice, while Ayooma and Kenneth Igbokwe both converted penalties to seal the 4-1 win.

This was the team’s first match away from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since the start of their camp for the WAFU-B tournament.

The Flying Eagles are preparing for crucial group-stage encounters against Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire. Their performance in this tournament will be key to advancing to the semi-finals and securing a spot in the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they hope to continue their tradition of success in African youth football.

The West African team is scheduled to continue their preparation with an evening training session, further fine-tuning their tactics and building chemistry ahead of the upcoming challenges.
