WAFU-B WCLQ: Edo Queens maintain perfect record against Etincelle to top Group B

After sealing their place in the semi final of the 2024 West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, Edo Queens edged Etincelle (Burkina Faso) 1-0 to top Group B on Saturday.

The Nigerian league champions had thrashed AS Garde Nationale (Niger Republic) 5-0 and secured a 3-0 success over Hasaacas Ladies (Ghana) to book a place in the last four.

Second half goal by Joy Jerry separated both sides in the third group match.

With a maximum of nine points, Moses Aduku’s side finished top of Group B ahead of Etincelle and Hasaacas Ladies with four points apiece.

AS Garde Nationale ended their campaign without a point.

Edo Queens will face the hosts and second placed team in Group A, Inter FC in the semi finals.

The 2024 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League is the fourth edition with the winner qualifying for the main tournament.

Hasaacas Ladies (2021), Bayelsa Queens from Nigeria (2022), and Ampem Darkoa from Ghana (2023) are the past winners of the tournament.
