Nigeria international Stanley Nwabali has been recognized as a nominee for the CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award, following an impressive performance during the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles shot-stopper had a standout debut campaign, achieving four clean sheets and conceding only four goals in eight matches.

His heroic penalty saves in the semifinal against South Africa were pivotal in securing Nigeria’s place in the final, earning him the Player of the Match accolade.

He will compete against ten other talented African goalkeepers for the prestigious award.

The nominees include Oussama Benbot (Algeria / USM Alger), Andre Onana (Cameroon / Manchester United), Yahia Fofana (Côte d’Ivoire / Angers SCO), Lionel Mpasi (DR Congo / Rodez AF), Mostafa Shobeir (Egypt / Al Ahly), Djigui Diarra (Mali / Young Africans), Munir El Kajoui (Morocco / RS Berkane), Ronwen Williams (South Africa / Mamelodi Sundowns), and Amanallah Memmiche (Tunisia / Espérance Sportive de Tunis).
