2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup: Future Eagles draw 2-2 with Jordan in second match

Nigeria’s Future Eagles recorded their second consecutive draw at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival after playing out a 2-2 result against Jordan in their second Group AD fixture in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Captain Timothy Ijach and Abdulrazak Mufutau scored for Nigeria, who fought back to claim a point after Jordan overturned their early lead with two goals.
The result followed Nigeria’s 3-3 draw against South Sudan in their opening match on Saturday, leaving the Future Eagles with two points from their first two fixtures.
Nigeria took the lead in the 24th minute through captain Ijach, who put the Future Eagles ahead in the contest.
Jordan responded five minutes later, with Zinedine Abushaer scoring in the 29th minute to restore parity.
The Jordanian side then took the lead in the 37th minute through Abdelrahman Khear, putting Nigeria under pressure as the match approached its conclusion.
However, the Future Eagles continued to push for an equaliser and were rewarded in stoppage time when Mufutau scored in the 40+2nd minute to secure a 2-2 draw.
Despite finding the net twice, Nigeria are still searching for their first victory of the competition. They have scored five goals and conceded five across their opening two matches.
Nigeria were scheduled to face The Gambia later on Sunday, October 25, at Hovsan Pitch 6B, Hovsan Competition Complex, in their third group-stage fixture.
The encounter offers the Nigerian youngsters another opportunity to claim their first win after consecutive draws, with the team looking to turn its attacking contributions into maximum points.
The Future Eagles are also scheduled to face Cyprus and Pakistan on Monday, October 26, in their remaining group-stage matches.
Following Nigeria’s draw with Jordan, the provisional standings provided before the remaining matches on Sunday showed South Sudan, Cyprus and The Gambia on four points each. Nigeria had two points, Jordan one and Pakistan none.
The standings remain provisional and could change following the remaining Group AD fixtures.
Unlike conventional tournaments where teams are eliminated at the end of the group stage, the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival operates a tier-based format.
Each team’s final group position determines the tier it enters for the next phase, ranging from Tier A for the group winners to Tier F for the teams finishing sixth.
This means Nigeria will continue participating in the tournament regardless of their final position in the qualification stage, although their remaining fixtures will determine the tier in which they compete next.
