Ibrahim Gusau confident Super Falcons will get Paris 2024 Olympics ticket

The president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau is confident that the women’s national team will earn a place at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The Super Falcons last qualified for the Summer Olympics 15 years ago as they target a place in Paris next year.

Gusau tips the Falcons to reclaim their mandate as the queen of African football in next year’s WAFCON in Morocco. He believes they have the capability to challenge for the title after coming up from a fantastic performance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The NFF chief is certain the Falcons will finish strong against Cape Verde having scored nine goals in two matches.

“Last year, they (Super Falcons) could not even make the podium at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. But they put that adversity behind them and rose to impress the world at the FIFA World Cup,” Gusau told the Press in Abuja.

“I believe they are ready for the challenge of reclaiming the African title in the same North African country next year. The Super Falcons are the most successful national team and they deserve all the accolades. In their last two matches, they have scored nine goals to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.

“I believe they will go to Cape Verde and finish the job brilliantly, and we also have confidence in them to earn the Olympic ticket this time, after our country missed the last three Women Olympic Football Tournaments.”

Nigeria will face Cape Verde in their last WAFCON qualifying game on Tuesday, December 5.
