Monday Odigie hails Insurance’s fighting spirit in draw against ‘matured’ Rivers United

Head Coach of Insurance FC, Monday Odigie has commended his boys for putting extra effort that earned them valuable point against Rivers United on Thursday.
The Benin Arsenals were held to 1-1 draw by Rivers United in the Matchday 16 of Nigeria Premier Football Prague, NPFL encounter in Port Harcourt.
Chisom Okereke latched on to a through pass from Paul Obata to hand the visitors a shock lead in the 21st minutes of the match.
Rivers United’s inspirational captain, Nyima Nwagua evened the score line for the hosts before half.
Insurance were on the back foot for most parts of second period as Rivers threw everything at them to snatch the match points but were resolute and organized to ward off the threats and share the spoils.
Odigie who described the draw as a win for his team noted that its a better way to end a memorable year for Insurance as he envisaged a more successful year ahead.
“I want to thank the boys for their great performance, how they defended and stead through the game, it feels like a win for me,” Odigie told club media.
“We played against a matured team playing on the continent. They one of the best in the country and this will boost the morale of the boys and we hope for a better 2024.
Insurance are placed seventh on the log after 16 round of matches and have accrued 24 points from possible 48.
