AFCON 2023: Jose Peseiro snubs Nigeria, tips Salah’s Egypt as title favorites

Head Coach of Nigeria’s national team, Jose Peseiro has named Egypt as the favorite country to win the upcoming African Cup of Nations, AFCON billed for Ivory Coast next month.
Egypt have won the African title a record seven times, their last came in the year 2010.
And the Portuguese tactician will lead the three-time African champions to a 20th continental showpiece as the West Africans eye their fourth crown ten years after their third success at South Africa 2013.
With the championship set to kick off on January 13, the Super Eagles coach when asked on his favourite for the title, tipped the Pharaohs as the most favored country to win the tournament, citing their quality and squad depth.
“There are many strong teams that are candidates to win the African Cup of Nations such as the Egyptian national team which is the best in the continent of Africa,” Peseiro told media.
“I believe they are a candidate to win the competition.”
Egypt are in Group B with Black Stars of Ghana, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
