Plateau United defeated Kwara United 2-0 to move up to the fifth position on the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) log after their Matchday 35 game on Saturday.

Two goals in each half from Alexander Enejo and Daniel Barnabas were enough to lift the Jos-based side to victory.

In another match, Katsina United thrashed relegated Gombe United 4-0 with Samson Olasupo scoring a brace. Michael Okoro Ibe opened the scoring for Katsina United in the fourth minute before Olasupo doubled the lead in the 40th minute.

Andrew Idoko made it 3-0 in the additional minutes of the first half, while Olasupo’s second goal in the 71st minute ended the rout.

Meanwhile, in Kano, the host Kano Pillars were held to a 1-1 draw by Niger Tornadoes. Ibrahim Mustapha had the chance to break the deadlock for the Sai Masu Gida in the 29th minute but missed from the penalty spot.

Niger Tornadoes scored the first goal of the game in the 47th minute courtesy of an own goal by Ismaila Nasir. Two minutes later, Rabiu Ali equalized for Kano Pillars to salvage a point for the host.

Matchday 35 will be concluded on Sunday with seven games.
