The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has confirmed that the 2023/2024 season will conclude this Sunday with the Matchday 38 fixtures.

This announcement was made in a letter signed by the league’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Davison Owumi, addressed to all club chairmen and general managers, dated June 18.

The letter stated that all ten Matchday 38 games will take place simultaneously on Sunday, June 23, 2024. However, the match at the venue where the title will be awarded is scheduled to start at 3:00 pm, an hour earlier than the others.

“I wish to inform you that the Matchday 38 games scheduled for Sunday, June 23, 2024, will commence by 4:00 pm simultaneously in all the venues except for the venue for the trophy presentation, which is scheduled for 3:00 pm,” the letter read.

The letter also advised clubs, in conjunction with their respective State Football Associations (FA), to ensure maximum security before, during, and after the games.

“To this end, clubs, in conjunction with their respective FAs, are advised to ensure adequate and effective security before, during, and after the game.”

Ahead of Sunday’s games, the rescheduled match between Doma United and Sunshine Stars, which will impact the relegation battle, is set to be played on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Enugu Rangers secured their first league title in eight years last weekend after a 2-0 win over Bendel Insurance, leaving them with a game to spare.

With the league title already decided, the final Matchday will determine the teams that will qualify for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Additionally, the final two teams that will join Gombe United and Heartland FC in the second-tier league will be determined after Sunday’s games.
