Imama Amapakabo calls for patience and support as he takes helm at Abia Warriors

By Saheed Afolabi
Abia Warriors’ newly appointed head coach, Imama Amapakabo, has called on all stakeholders of the club to prepare for the challenges ahead as he takes charge of the team.
Returning to the club after two years, Amapakabo aims to instill a winning mentality following a disappointing performance in the last NPFL season.
The 53-year-old tactician appealed to the fans to maintain their unwavering support despite the tough challenges the team will face in the upcoming season.
“It is a new dawn. Most importantly, I appreciate the team for what they achieved last season. But you see, football is very, very funny,” Amapakabo told media.
In the next two years, ask which team played the finals of the President Federation Cup in 2024; people will only remember the team that won. In Nigeria here, it’s funny how every team wants to come and win. Everybody believes they have an equal chance.
“To the fans, I will say, be faithful to the team, support the team. There will be difficult times because in every season, there’s a sag period and a surge period.
“At the sag period, the team needs their supporters. It’s not just at the surge period that people will come and celebrate. There will be difficult times, there will be tough times, especially now that we’re going to be rebuilding. It will take some of the players time to fit into my philosophy. And within that period, walls might crack. When the walls crack, let’s keep faith.”
Amapakabo’s return marks a fresh chapter for Abia Warriors as he sets his sights on revitalizing the squad and leading them to greater heights.
