Paris 2024 Olympic: Spain’s Montserrat Tome braces for tough battle against Nigeria

Head Coach of Spain’s women’s national team, Montserrat Tomé, is anticipating a difficult encounter against Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Sunday.
Both countries will clash in Matchday Two of the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics at Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau, Nantes.
Tomé described the African giants as a more physical side and singled out the duo of captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie as major threats to her team.
“They are a physically very strong rival, who will take everything to individual and physical duels,” Montserrat Tomé said, as per Marca said.
“It will be very different from Japan because they will let us play less. We have studied them well and I would highlight that they play a lot on the left side where there is an Ajibade that we know well. They have a goalkeeper, Nnadozie, who has a fairly long serve and is quite good.”
Spain rallied to beat Japan 2-1 in their opening fixture on Thursday, while the Super Falcons lost 1-0 to Brazil in Bordeaux on the same day.
The matchup promises to be an intriguing clash of styles and strategies, with Spain’s tactical approach being tested by Nigeria’s physicality and individual brilliance.
