The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially appointed Justin Madugu as the head coach of the senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons.
This decision was made by the Executive Committee following recommendations from the Technical and Development Sub-Committee.
Madugu steps into the role after the departure of Randy Waldrum, under whom he served as assistant coach. He previously led the team as interim coach after the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the Super Falcons reached the Round of 16.
During his interim period, he guided the team through their 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifying campaign, securing qualification with a dominant 7-1 aggregate victory over Cape Verde Island.
He also led the Super Falcons to a convincing 5-1 aggregate win against Ethiopia in the Olympic qualifiers. Madugu will continue to oversee the team until a permanent head coach is appointed.
The Super Falcons’ next major challenge will be the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco in the summer of next year.
