NPFL: Ogunbote outlines plan to tackle Shooting Stars’ goalscoring struggles

By Wale Mustapha
Shooting Stars’ Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, has offered insights into how he plans to address the club’s ongoing scoring issues, which have left the team struggling to find the back of the net this season.
The Oluyole Warriors were held to a goalless draw by Enyimba at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Sunday. With just three goals in six NPFL outings so far, the club’s offensive woes have become a growing concern.
Ogunbote acknowledged the team’s difficulty in converting chances, particularly in their match against the People’s Elephants, and he vowed to resolve the issue swiftly.
“This is a big challenge for us,” Ogunbote admitted. “Our inability to take risks has contributed to this problem. If we had taken more risks in this game, we could have come away with a positive result, but it’s an ongoing issue. We’ll continue to work on it.”
He emphasized that the club’s coaching staff is focused on ensuring the players better understand and embrace the team’s philosophy, which includes improving decision-making and being more clinical in front of goal.
“We will keep training them to ensure they grasp our philosophy fully,” he assured the club’s media. “The goal is to create a system where they take responsibility and are more effective when it matters most.”
As Ogunbote works to find solutions, the Shooting Stars’ fans will be hoping for a more potent attack in upcoming fixtures.
