FIFA ranking: Super Eagles end 2024 un-moved

Nigeria’s senior men’s national team ended 2024 as the 44th-ranked football team, as FIFA released the last ranking for the year on Thursday.

The three time African champions maintained their fifth position in Africa as the top 10 teams on the continent did not make any appreciable movement or drop on the ranking as of when it was last released in November.

Olympic bronze medalist, Morocco remained the top ranked teams in Africa in 14th place, three positions more than Senegal.

Record African Champions, Egypt got a third placed ranking on the continent and a distance 33rd globally.

Fellow North African side, Algeria are ranked 37th in the world and fourth in Africa.

African champions, Cote D’Ivoire is in the 46th position on the world rankings, sixth in Africa behind the Super Eagles.

Cameroon (49), Mali (51), Tunisia (52), and South Africa (57) complete the top 10 ranked teams on the continent.

The ranking will be used by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for January 2025 pots for next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw.

The next FIFA rankings will be released on April 3, 2025.
