Nigerian midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru continued his excellent scoring run as Watford secured a 2-0 victory over Luton Town in a derby at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
Dele-Bashiru opened the scoring for the Hornets with a well-taken penalty in the 10th minute.
The penalty was awarded after Mali international Mamadou Doumbia was fouled inside the box by Luton’s Mads Andersen.
The 25-year-old calmly converted from the spot, sending Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski the wrong way to give Watford the lead.
This goal marked his fourth of the season, further solidifying his role as a key player for Watford.
The former Flying Eagles star played the full 90 minutes, making it his 17th league appearance of the campaign.
In the 23rd minute, Edouard Kayembe doubled Watford’s advantage, putting the game out of Luton Town’s reach.
With the win, Watford now has 48 points from 34 games and sits three points outside the playoff zone in ninth place in the English Championship.
