Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers has described Glasgow Rangers’ 2-0 home loss to St Mirren as both a tough and embarrassing defeat.
Rangers suffered a disappointing setback against a struggling St Mirren side in the Scottish Premier League (SPL) on Saturday, with two second-half goals from Mikael Mandron and Toyosi Olusanya securing a famous victory for the visitors at Ibrox.
Dessers admitted that the defeat was difficult to swallow, particularly because it came on home turf, urging his teammates to quickly recover and move forward from the loss.
“It was a really difficult afternoon. It was a tough loss, especially as it was at home,” Dessers told the club’s official website.
“That is not what you want to show here, especially after our last home game.
“We wanted to bounce back and give the fans something, but we obviously didn’t.”
The defeat leaves Rangers 13 points behind their rivals Celtic, who also lost on the same day.
Philippe Clement’s side will look to regroup ahead of their next league fixture against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
