Mohammed Babaganaru, the newly appointed interim coach of Lobi Stars, has called for heightened dedication and commitment from the players as the club fights to retain its place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season.
Babaganaru, who returns for a second stint at the Makurdi-based club, was named interim coach for the remainder of the current campaign.
Lobi Stars are currently at the bottom of the league standings, following a series of disappointing results.
However, with Babaganaru at the helm—having previously helped the club avoid relegation two seasons ago—the team will be hoping for a similar turnaround.
The journey to survival will begin with a crucial home clash against Niger Tornadoes at their newly adopted home ground, Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, on Wednesday.
The veteran coach has urged the players to step up their performance and treat every match like a final.
“He only told them that he will watch and observe them in tomorrow’s game before deciding what to say to them, but they should approach each game henceforth like it’s a final,” Babaganaru was quoted by the club’s media officer, Alex George.
“He demands that everyone should step up their game, and that we should make our home ground a fortress so that we can start winning home games and picking up points away.”
Lobi Stars will be hoping to build on this rallying call and secure vital points as they fight to avoid relegation.
