Flamingos return home after FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team have returned to the country following their participation at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

The team touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, arriving from Casablanca.

The Flamingos’ World Cup journey came to an end earlier in the week after a 4-0 defeat to Italy in the Round of 16, but the young Nigerian side earned plaudits for their spirited displays throughout the tournament.

According to team officials, the experience gained at the global showpiece will serve as a foundation for future progress as Nigeria begins early preparations for the next edition of the tournament, which is now an annual event.

“The lessons learned will fuel our drive to return stronger and better in the next edition,” a team source noted.

The team’s return marks the end of a memorable campaign that offered valuable exposure and international experience for the next generation of Super Falcons stars.
