Relegated Teams Confirmed as NWFL Premiership Regular Season Ends

The 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership regular season concluded in dramatic fashion on Wednesday, with the clubs relegated to the second-tier NWFL Championship officially confirmed.
Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, FC Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and Abia Angels had already secured qualification for the season-ending Super Six playoffs before the final round of matches.
In Ikenne, Dannaz Ladies secured their top-flight status with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Remo Stars Ladies. Fatimoh Solaty, Zainab Raji, and Ajoke Akinbo were on target for the visitors, while Chiamaka Ojialor and an own goal by Miracle Omeke reduced the deficit for the hosts.
Despite recording a 2-0 win over Confluence Queens in Akure, Sunshine Queens were unable to avoid relegation, with both sides dropping to the NWFL Championship. Lolade Akintunde opened the scoring before Bunmi Adenuga sealed the victory.
Osun Babes also suffered relegation after falling 3-0 to Delta Queens. Titilayo Aweda scored twice, while Anastasia Terfa added the third goal.
In Benin City, Edo Queens defeated Rivers Angels 2-1 courtesy of goals from Atume Doosuur and Esther Inyang. Patience Otubo scored the lone goal for Rivers Angels.
FC Robo Queens edged fellow Super Six contenders Nasarawa Amazons 2-1 in Lagos. Opeyemi Ajakaye and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi found the net for the Lagos side, while Ayatsea Hembafan scored the consolation goal for the Amazons.
Delta Queens wrapped up their regular season campaign in style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Osun Babes in Asaba, inspired by Titilayo Aweda’s brace and another goal from Anastasia Terfa.
In the Aba derby, Ahudiyannem Queens claimed a narrow 1-0 win against Abia Angels thanks to Loveth Edeh’s decisive strike.
Defending champions Bayelsa Queens were stunned 1-0 by Ekiti Queens, with Joke Adeyemo netting the winning goal.
Heartland Queens also secured a slim 1-0 victory over Adamawa Queens in Owerri, as Chimebere Opara scored the only goal of the encounter.
Meanwhile, Pacesetter Queens and Naija Ratels settled for a 1-1 draw in Ibadan. Samantha Victor canceled out Janet Achukwu’s opener for Naija Ratels.
At the end of the regular season, Pacesetter Queens, Naija Ratels, Castmog Ladies, Sunshine Queens, Osun Babes, and Confluence Queens were relegated to the NWFL Championship.
Attention now turns to the highly anticipated NWFL Premiership Super Six, where the league champions will be decided.
