Rivers United drawn in tough CAF Champions League Group

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s sole representative on the continent, Rivers United, have been drawn in Group A of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League on Monday.

The Port Harcourt-based side face a tough challenge in a group that features two North African powerhouses.

RS Berkane of Morocco, winners of the last CAF Confederation Cup, and Pyramids FC of Egypt, the defending CAF Champions League champions are in the same group as Finidi George’s side.

Power Dynamos of Zambia complete the group.

Rivers United reached the group stage after edging Black Bulls of Mozambique 3–2 on aggregate in the second preliminary round.

Other Nigerian clubs — Remo Stars, Abia Warriors, and Kwara United — all exited earlier in the competition.
