House Committee on Sports to visit NFF Secretariat November 20

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The House of Representatives’ Committee on Sports has notified the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of its intention to conduct an oversight function visit to the federation’s Sunday Dankaro House secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

In a letter dated October 31, the Committee reminded the NFF that the exercise forms part of its constitutional oversight responsibilities and legislative duties.

The visit comes at a time the football governing body has faced a wave of public criticism, some of which the NFF described as misleading narratives about its operations.

According to the letter, the lawmakers’ visit will provide an opportunity to assess the progress recorded under the Ibrahim Musa Gusau-led administration, particularly in relation to the FIFA Forward 3.0 Programme.

The FIFA-funded initiative features a 68-room players’ hostel, two new training pitches — one synthetic and one natural grass — and spectator terraces with a capacity of 1,838 seats. The project is situated within the Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, directly opposite the NFF Secretariat.

By the time of the visit, NFF officials may be returning from Morocco, where they are expected to have accompanied the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa Playoffs.

The playoffs, seen as a pivotal step in Nigeria’s qualification campaign, could further shape public perception of the Gusau-led NFF Executive Committee’s developmental efforts and achievements in football administration.
