RS Berkane boss Mounie Chaabani anticipates tough CAF Champions League test against Rivers United

RS Berkane head coach Mounie Chaabani says he is expecting a difficult battle when his side takes on Rivers United in their CAF Champions League Matchday Two clash on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The Moroccan giants, reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions, kicked off their campaign in style with a commanding 3–0 win over Zambia’s Power Dynamos last weekend.

Rivers United endured a contrasting start, falling 3–0 to defending champions Pyramids FC in Cairo.

Despite the contrasting results, Chaabani insists his side will approach the encounter with full respect for Finidi George’s men.

“Tomorrow against Rivers United, it will be difficult because they are a disciplined team as well, from what they were able to show in holding the champions (Pyramids) to a scoreless first half last week. We will not underrate them at all,” he told CAFonline.

Chaabani’s comments highlight the North Africans’ awareness of Rivers United’s organised approach, with the Nigerian side looking to bounce back strongly in front of their home fans.

The match presents a crucial early test for both teams as they seek to establish momentum in the group stage.
