Kwara United Queens, Apex Angels Shine as Unilorin Queens Cruise in Pre-Season Championship

Kwara United Queens, Apex Angels, and Unilorin Queens all recorded impressive victories, while Jagunmolu Queens and Wazbak Queens shared the spoils in an action-packed Day Three of the Kwara First Lady Pre-Season Championship.

The thrilling fixtures took place at the George Innih Stadium in Ilorin, Kwara State, with fans treated to a series of competitive encounters.

Apex Angels set the tone early on Sunday, producing a commanding display to defeat Model Queens 2-0 in the opening fixture.

Hosts Kwara United Queens followed with a narrow but hard-earned 1-0 victory over a determined FUOYE Dazzlers side. Mariam Shittu emerged as the hero, rising highest to head home in the 27th minute after connecting with a well-delivered free-kick from Kafayat Kareem.

In one of the most entertaining matches of the day, Jagunmolu Queens and Wazbak Queens battled to a 1-1 draw. Wazbak Queens took an early lead, but Jagunmolu Queens fought back in the second half to level the score.

Jagunmolu Queens had a golden chance to snatch victory late on, but Wazbak’s goalkeeper produced a crucial penalty save to ensure both sides settled for a point apiece.

Unilorin Queens also impressed, securing a comfortable 2-0 win over Ebira Queens. Both goals came after the break, as their experience and composure proved too much for their spirited but youthful opponents.

The championship—organized by Ultimate Sports Consult and the Kwara State Sports Commission in partnership with Enact Innovation Hubs—continues to serve as a platform for discovering and nurturing female football talent at the grassroots level.

Action resumes on Monday with more exciting fixtures scheduled for Day Four.
