Abia Warriors FC Suspend Technical Adviser and Chief Coach Over Alleged Insubordination

Nigeria Premier Football League side Abia Warriors FC have suspended Technical Adviser Imama Amapakabo and Chief Coach Bethel Oji from all club activities with immediate effect over alleged acts of insubordination.

In an official letter dated May 11, 2026, and signed by club chairman John Sam Obuh, the suspension was linked to incidents during the FA Cup semi-final against Ahudiyannem FC and a league match against Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri.

The club stated that despite repeated directives regarding team line-up adjustments in both matches, the coaching staff allegedly ignored instructions, resulting in defeats that “brought embarrassment to the club and the entire state.”

Abia Warriors confirmed that the suspensions will remain in place pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu and his assistants have been appointed to take immediate charge of the team’s management and operations until further notice.

The suspended officials were urged to fully cooperate with the investigation panel as required.
