Brendan Galloway Set to Miss Super Eagles’ Unity Cup clash Through Injury

Brendan Galloway is expected to miss the upcoming Unity Cup after failing to recover in time from injury, handing an early setback to the Zimbabwe national football team ahead of the invitational tournament in London.

The experienced defender had been expected to play a key role for Zimbabwe during the competition, but medical assessments have now confirmed that he will not regain fitness in time to feature.

Galloway’s absence represents an early challenge for newly appointed Zimbabwe head coach Kaitano Tembo, who is preparing for his first assignment in charge of the national team.

Zimbabwe are scheduled to face the Nigeria national football team in the opening semi-final of the Unity Cup at The Valley on May 26, with the winner advancing to the final.

The tournament is expected to offer Zimbabwe’s technical crew a valuable opportunity to assess player partnerships and evaluate both locally-based and foreign-based talent ahead of future international assignments.

Galloway’s absence will force Tembo to reconsider his defensive options as the Warriors aim to make a strong start under their new coach in what promises to be a competitive tournament.
