Paul Onuachu Wins Süper Lig Goal of the Season Award After Stunning Bicycle Kick

Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu has added another major accolade to an impressive campaign after winning the Goal of the Season award in the Süper Lig for his spectacular overhead kick for Trabzonspor.

The Nigerian forward earned the honour for his breathtaking bicycle kick in Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük on September 27, 2025, during a Week Seven league fixture.

Onuachu produced the moment of magic after connecting with a delivery from Wagner Pina, launching an acrobatic overhead effort beyond goalkeeper Ivo Grbić and into the net, leaving fans and pundits in awe.

The strike emerged as the fans’ favourite at the end of the season, beating goals scored by Orkun Kökçü of Beşiktaş and Marco Asensio of Fenerbahçe to claim the prestigious award.

The Goal of the Season award crowns an outstanding individual season for Onuachu, who finished as the league’s joint top scorer with 22 goals and two assists.

The 31-year-old shared the Golden Boot with Eldor Shomurodov of İstanbul Başakşehir after both players ended the campaign on 22 league goals.

For much of the season, Onuachu appeared destined to win the scoring title outright, thanks to a remarkable ten-match scoring streak that established him as one of the division’s most dominant forwards.

Since arriving at Trabzonspor, initially on loan before completing a permanent transfer, Onuachu has become one of the club’s most influential players.

After scoring 15 league goals during his first spell with the Black Sea club, Trabzonspor moved quickly to secure his services permanently—a decision that has paid off handsomely.

Known primarily for his aerial prowess and physical presence, the Nigerian striker’s award-winning bicycle kick highlighted the technical quality and athleticism that have made him one of the most complete forwards in Turkish football.

Following another prolific campaign, speculation continues to surround Onuachu’s future, with reports linking him to a potential move away from Turkey during the summer transfer window.

Several clubs in Saudi Arabia are reportedly monitoring the striker’s situation, but for now, Onuachu can savour a season that delivered goals, records and individual recognition.

By finishing as joint top scorer and claiming the Süper Lig Goal of the Season award, the Super Eagles star has once again underlined his status as one of Nigeria’s most consistent and reliable performers abroad.
