Frank Onyeka Completes Permanent Move to Coventry City

Frank Onyeka has completed a permanent transfer to Coventry City from Brentford for an undisclosed fee after a successful loan spell during the second half of last season.

The Nigerian midfielder first arrived at the Coventry Building Society Arena on loan in January and impressed throughout his time with the Sky Blues. Following the opening of the summer transfer window, the club activated the option to make his stay permanent.

Onyeka played a significant role in Frank Lampard’s side as Coventry secured the Sky Bet Championship title and earned promotion to the Premier League. The 28-year-old featured in 14 matches and scored a memorable goal in a crucial victory over Derby County in April.

Before joining Coventry, Onyeka amassed valuable Premier League experience with Brentford, making 75 top-flight appearances during his time with the Bees.

Speaking after sealing his permanent move, Onyeka expressed his excitement about the challenge ahead.

“I’m really excited for the new season with Coventry. When I first joined last season, I came here with two goals: to win the Championship and help Coventry get promoted to the Premier League.

“I’m really happy to now be a Coventry player back in the Premier League.

“I will give everything to the team, fight for every ball, fight for my teammates and bring my experience.

“My ambition now is to help the club stay in the Premier League and finish as high as we can.”

Onyeka’s permanent contract officially comes into effect on Wednesday, July 1, as he prepares to begin the next chapter of his career with the newly promoted Premier League side.
