AIK eye U19 midfielder Oreoluwa Agbenla for step up to Allsvenskan squad

Nigeria midfielder Oreoluwa Agbenla of AIK U19 is being linked with a move into AIK’s Allsvenskan squad as the Stockholm club assess internal options for their first team. The 18-year-old, who operates in midfield and is right-footed, is currently part of the club’s under-19 set-up but is understood to be on the radar of the senior side following his arrival in Sweden this summer.

Agbenla joined AIK’s youth ranks on 17 July 2026 from Remo Stars’ reserve team and signed a deal running until 31 December 2030, giving the club long-term control over his future. Any promotion to the senior group would therefore be an internal move rather than a traditional transfer, but it would represent a significant change in status for the player within the club’s hierarchy.

The Nigerian’s height is listed at 1.71m and he has been used in central midfield during his short time with AIK’s under-19s. His contractual situation makes him a low-risk option for the Allsvenskan side as they look at ways to supplement their squad without entering the external market.

AIK are yet to make a formal decision on when, or if, Agbenla will be fully integrated into the first-team environment, but the length of his deal and his recent move from Remo Stars Reserves indicate that the club view him as part of their medium-term planning at senior level.
