Ademola Shobowale: Nigerian striker returns to FK Podkonice after spell without club

Nigerian centre-forward Ademola Shobowale has rejoined Slovak side FK Podkonice on a free transfer after a brief period without a club.

The 23-year-old, born in Lagos and standing at 1.94m, heads back to Podkonice following his departure from Kyrgyz club Abdysh-Ata Kant earlier in 2026. He had left the Slovak outfit for the Kyrgyz side in February on a free transfer before becoming unattached in May.

Shobowale, a left-footed striker, is no stranger to Podkonice. He first arrived there in July 2025 from Czech club Chrudim, also on a free transfer, after a spell that saw his market value climb to €50,000. His return gives Podkonice a familiar option in attack, with the player already accustomed to the league and club environment.

Across his recent club stints, Shobowale has featured in a variety of competitions, including league and cup football in both Europe and Central Asia. His appearances span the Slovak second tier and cup competitions, as well as outings in the Kyrgyz top flight and domestic cup, where he registered an assist during his time with Abdysh-Ata Kant.

Before moving to Central Europe, Shobowale had a spell with Egyptian side El Mokawloon, joining them in early 2023. He later left the Cairo club and spent time unattached before building his career back up through Chrudim and into Slovak football.

Shobowale’s latest move confirms his permanent return to FK Podkonice, where he will continue his career in Slovak football.
