Ethan Nwaneri: Everton consider move for Arsenal and England-born midfielder

Ethan Nwaneri, the England- and Nigeria-eligible attacking midfielder currently at Arsenal, is being linked with a move to Premier League rivals Everton.

The 19-year-old, who wears No 22 for Arsenal, is under contract at Emirates Stadium until June 2030, meaning any deal would require a significant fee rather than a cut‐price opportunity. Nwaneri is valued at around €35m, a figure that is expected to frame any negotiations should Everton decide to turn their interest into a formal approach.

Nwaneri has already broken into senior football with Arsenal and gained experience on loan at Marseille last season, where he made nine Ligue 1 appearances and scored twice. For his parent club he has featured in the Premier League and Champions League, with 34 top-flight outings yielding four goals and two assists, underlining that he has already accumulated substantial minutes at a high level for his age.

The midfielder’s development has been closely followed within English football since his rise through Arsenal’s youth system, where he excelled in the FA Youth Cup and progressed quickly from the U18s to the U21s before stepping into the first team in 2024. He has since gone on to become a European Under-21 champion with England U21s in 2025.

Arsenal recalled Nwaneri from his Marseille loan at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, and he formally rejoined the first-team squad on 30 June 2026. With four years left on his deal in north London, Arsenal are in a strong position regarding his future as Everton monitor the situation.
