Everton mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day with tribute to former stars

Everton have celebrated Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day by highlighting the Nigerian players who have represented the club.

The Premier League club shared an artwork on 1 October featuring Super Eagles and Super Falcons figures including Daniel Amokachi, Joseph Yobo, Victor Anichebe, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Toni Payne and Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

The post combined the Nigerian flag with Everton’s colours and included a message wishing Nigeria a happy Independence Day.

Nigeria marked 66 years of independence from Britain on 1 October, having gained independence in 1960.
