Nigeria football great Jay-Jay Okocha has lauded Devis Epassy for his performance as Cameroon defeated Brazil 1-0 in Friday’s World Cup match.
With the keenly contested affair looking to end in a no winner, no vanquished note, Vincent Aboubakar scored the winner – with the celebration getting him sent off for a second caution.
Notwithstanding the shock result, the Indomitable Lions returned home as Switzerland overcame Serbia 3-2 in the other encounter.
Man-of-the-match Epassy was the hero as he pulled up great saves to deny the former world champions victory in the low-scoring affair.
“He’s going home as a hero, made a very good fantastic save here,” Okocha said on SuperSports.
“It was all about his positioning, he made it look easy because he was in the right position and they’ve managed to follow up as well and pushed that one over.
“It shows how we build teams up and how we build players up. What a game to make your debut against a tough opposition.”
Epassy had pulled off six key saves as the Indomitable Lions withstood great pressure from Brazil, keeping out Gabriel Martinelli on three occasions, as well as Antony and Everton, before Aboubakar came up with the big goal in what was Cameroon’s third attempt.
Cameroon’s exit the tournament while Brazil will face South Korea in the Round of 16 on Monday.
